Getting Started with USSSA Baseball!
Hello Baseball Enthusiast!
Playing with USSSA is an easy 5-step process!
Step 1: Determining your team Age & Classification... USSSA offers baseball for ages 4U to 18U in single age divisions. The age of your team is determined by the age of your oldest player. The age cut off date is May 1. Simply stated, the age a player is at 11:59:59 PM on April 30, 2009 is the age the player will play at for the current season year. Of course any player may play up in age but never down.
Now that you know the correct age of your team, it's time to determine your "starting" classification. USSSA is the only National Sanctioning Body that has four levels (classifications) of play (i.e. Major, AAA, AA, All-Star). To determine your team's "starting" point, click here to review USSSA Baseball's classification guidelines. Keep in mind that USSSA will monitor team performance and can reclassify a team at any time.
Step 2: Create your USSSA Login ID & Password... USSSA team managers are required to create a Login ID & Password for use within the USSSA.com web site. Your ID & Password will be needed to access your team's USSSA web page, to register your team, build your roster, etc. To begin creating your Login ID & Password, click here. HINT - Make sure the "sport" listed above the left menu is "BASEBALL." Complete the required fields including an email address and password and click the "SUBMIT" button, you now have your Login ID & Password.
Step 3: Create & Register your team... All USSSA teams are required to register annually with the Association. A team registration is valid from August 1 - July 31. There are two methods;
The preferred method is USSSA secure on-line registration with a credit card. To register your team on-line, click here. Enter your Login ID & Password and click the "ENTER" button. You are now at the Team Manager Menu, select the third option at the top, "Create Baseball Team." You will be required to fill in your Complete Team Name, Team City, Team State and Sport & Class Requested and click the "SUBMIT" button. You have now created your team but you MUST still register the team. With a credit card, click on the gray button in the yellow box at the top of the screen and enter your credit card information. Once registered, you'll see your new team listed on the Team Manager Menu with your Team Registration Number and you'll be ready to complete your USSSA On-Line Roster. Since you have registered your team on-line, there is no need to mail a paper registration form to Florida USSSA Baseball.
The other method is paper registration. To register your team via U.S. Mail, click here and download, print and mail your team registration to Florida USSSA Baseball. Once received and processed (usually 5-10 business days), the USSSA system will automatically email you your Login ID & Password. When you get your Login ID & Password you'll be ready to complete your USSSA On-Line Roster.
USSSA Baseball does not charge an Individual Player Registration fee.
Step 4: Completing your On-Line Roster... All USSSA teams (tournament and/or league) are required to have their USSSA Roster on-line. It's a quick and simple process. To begin building your USSSA On-Line Roster, click here. Enter your Login ID and Password and click the "ENTER" button. You are now at the Team Manager Menu. Make sure your current year team is highlighted and click on the "Roster Adds and Updates" link below the dialogue box. Read and agree to the USSSA Roster Manager Affidavit. Follow the directions at the top of the page to enter each player. HINT - If a player played for you last year, you can transfer him from the list. Once you've built your roster, click on the "View Team" button to verify the entered information. Once satisfied, click on the "Printable Roster" button to print your on-line roster. A parent of each minor aged player must sign the roster on the same line as their child's name. Players 18 years of age and older must sign the roster themselved. The team Manager must also sign the bottom of the roster. This is now your "Official USSSA On-Line Roster." A signed copy MUST be submitted to the Tournament Director BEFORE your team's first game at all USSSA tournaments.
STEP 5: Finding a USSSA Tournament To view a complete list of all USSSA sanctioned tournaments in Florida, the Southeast or anywhere in the country, click here. Keep in mind that ALL USSSA sanctioned tournaments are listed on the USSSA National web site regardless of what might be posted on some other web site (i.e. Eteamz, Junior Baseball, etc.).
USSSA Baseball qualifies teams through League and Tournament play. USSSA issues State Championship Berths and World Series Berths to the top 25% of teams in the final standings for Sanctioned Leagues and Tournaments.
